Yahoo Introduces New Contributor Network

Ever since Yahoo purchased Associated Content six months ago,
people have speculated on what it might become. The answer may have just arrived, in the form of the Yahoo Contributor Network.
Unfortunately, the answer isn't particularly innovative or exciting for writers
hoping there'd be a big shake up and an increase in rates.
Yahoo has added a dashboard, which looks much like
Seed and Demand Studio's dashboards, where writers can claim articles. Some of them pay revenue share, while
others have flat upfront payments. It appears as if you'll be competing with other writers if you take those
pieces, but that remains to be seen for sure.
Some of the articles pay better than the usual two or three bucks per
400 word article that made Associated Content so worthless. Now you can at least find a few articles offering ten
or fifteen bucks for a 350 word article. That's no great prize either, though, especially when you may be
competing.
You can still write about whatever you like and submit it, now for revenue share
instead of a small flat payment. That seems to be one of the few positives of the introduction of the Yahoo
Contributor Network.
It also helps separate it from Demand Media Studios, which only lets you pitch how
to article ideas, which may or may not be accepted, and AOL Seed, which doesn't let you come up with your own ideas
at all.
That said, there are other revenue share websites where you can write whatever you
want, like Bukisa and HubPages.
Veteran Associated Content writers will at least appreciate that they will now be
eligible to receive ad share performance payments for pre-existing articles they've already written and
published.
