Spammers Suck

This is why we can't have nice
things.
Looks like spammers went hog
wild on the forum and it had to be taken down. Actually, I had already taken it off the left navigation and menu
and tried to make it no longer a part of the site because I was finding that I didn't have the time to police it
and really run it properly with everything else I have going on. At that point there were just one or two innocuous
pieces of spam.
I forgot that there were
still links all over the site pointing to the forum, and that it needed to be officially removed from the host and
taken down altogether. By the time I got around to doing so it had been spammed left and right, and this time with
anything but innocuous material.
I was made aware of the content
the spammers were posting on the forums by a comment to the site and have immediately disabled and deleted the
forum.
I am disgusted that our nice
little forum was used for the purposes it was and sincerely apologize to anyone who was exposed to what they
posted. I also apologize for not having looked at the forums in the past couple of months or I would have been able
to take care of this problem sooner.
Speaking of comments, I have
also taken those off the site because the service I was using, Echo, as it turns out only lets you delete and
moderate comments for free for a limited period. After that you have to pay a monthly fee. Spammers started taking
advantage of my inability to moderate them on there as well, so now there are no more
comments.
You can still reach out on the
Facebook and Twitter pages.
Sorry for this nonsense. I am
now going to go through and delete all the references and links to the forum that I can find on the
site.
This isn't much of a way for us
to start off the New Year, but at least things are now under control. Look for more posts soon, and this time on
happier subject matters.
Hope everyone is off to a great
start in the New Year!
