How to Increase Your Demand Studios Article Claim
Limit

New writers often hear about their “co-workers” having
article claim limits of 15, 20 or even 25, and wonder what they are doing wrong. Why is their claim limit stuck at
10?
The truth is, Demand Studios writers are given different claim limits, based on a
number of factors. But this limit can be increased.
Every writer starts out only being able to claim ten articles at a time. This is
actually an improvement over the way it once was, because you used to have to wait until an article was either
accepted or rejected before it stopped counting as a claimed article. At least now you have a space freed up every
time you hit the submit button.
Then again, at one point time there was a separate section for Demand Studios
revenue share articles, so you could claim ten flat fee articles or more and then another ten rev share articles.
Eventually they lumped it all into one.
But enough about the way things were, let’s get to the way things are
now.
Now writers start with ten articles total that they are allowed to claim
and must wait for Demand to raise this limit. This happens sporadically, whenever Demand Media decides to go
through and review writers. They usually do these sweeps all at once, offering a block of writers the
opportunity to claim more titles.
One of the most reliable factors appears to be writers who are consistently
productive. Some Demand Studios writers produce as many as ten articles a day or more, and they are more likely to
see their claim number increase than someone who turns in an article or two a day.
If a writer is productive but has low scores, or high rejection, rewrite and
abandoned article percentages, they are unlikely to be granted an increase.
It is possible to contact the help desk and ask to have your claim limit
increased. This has worked for a number of Demand Studios writers who have tried it.
Remember though that if you go this route you should be pretty sure your scores
and percentages are going to look impressive to the Demand Media staffer who ends up reviewing them.
Not only is it a waste of time to ask for a claim limit increase with poor
numbers, it may backfire by bringing your less than stellar performance to the attention of the higher ups. That’s
even more dangerous these days than ever before, what with the Demand Studios Writer Development Program (WDP) in
full effect.
So what constitutes strong numbers?
Aim for a grammar score of 3.8 or higher and a research score of 4 or
higher.
Also, make sure your rewrite percentage isn’t too much above 20 percent, and that
your rejection and abandoned rewrite percentages are both no higher than three or four.
